Pictures of Solar Power Storage using Nickel Iron
« on: June 09, 2010, 04:30:35 PM »
Here are the pictures of our family solar power plant in Victoria BC.   The orange strips are safety coverings for the binding posts between cells.  Each are 200 amp hour ChangHong 1.2 volt cells.

The batteries are a bank of 22 Nickel Iron cells to make up a 26.4 volt system.   A maximum power point controller was used.   The solar panels are wired so as to give 84 volts in direct sun.   On a cloudy day (very dark) I still get 2 amps of charge due to the 80 volt headroom.

Thanks

If anyone knows of a cache of NiFe batteries from the Edison Storage Battery company that are less than 50 years old I would like to buy some.
